It's Baking Season!.png

Happy October! Time to Start Baking

Isn't it great when the temperature finally drops low enough that you don't dread turning on your oven? That means it's time to bake! These festive finds will bring a little extra joy to your kitchen when you're whipping up some delicious pumpkin treats. I want to try my hand at the hand pies ($20 for the set), the 3-D pumpkin cake, or the cakelettes! And the pumpkin chocolate chunk mix and caramel pumpkin butter sound so delicious. I love that all of these things can be enjoyed all the way through Thanksgiving, too.

Pillows.png

Great Deals on Statement Pillows

How great are these? I much prefer light-colored, neutral couches and chairs for the most part. Since they're larger and more expensive pieces, I think going with light and neutral makes it more likely that you won't tire of them and that they will stand the test of time as far as style goes! But at the same time, too much "light and neutral" can look sterile and boring. The perfect solution? Statement pillows! They add a ton of visual interest without overwhelming a space. And since they're just pillows - they don't cost an arm and a leg. (And these are especially well-priced!)

Gold Bamboo (1).png

Gold Bamboo - Frames and More

Ah, gold bamboo. We all love it for a frame. But why should it end there? I was thrilled to find so many well-priced, special pieces in this striking color and pattern/texture. I've included three frames in three different "shades" of gold - all pretty as can be. The earrings and bracelet would make great gifts. Display your blue and white collection on the etagere or console table, or add a glam touch with an accent table. And my very favorites are the drawer pulls (in four sizes) and the flatware sets. I'm ordering number six!

Classics.png

Classics Under $50

These items are "classic" for good reason. The white bamboo tray would look fantastic on a desktop or entry table to wrangle pens, keys, masks, etc. Boxwood is beautiful year-round. On the wreath, you can add a large bow for the holiday or season. (I actually love to add bows to the bottom of my boxwood topiaries too!) I love the subtle scallop on the white plate set - and couldn't believe the great price. And metallic accents - like touches of brass and silver serving pieces - add history and depth to your decor or tabletop.

Girlie Gold Mirrors (1).png

Girlie Gold Mirrors - Bows and More!

"Girlie" is of course subjective, but I can't help picturing these beautiful gold mirrors over a white dresser or chest in a girl's bedroom. The bows, flowers, leaves, hearts, etc. are just so sweet and special. Many of these mirrors would also look so pretty in a powder room or guest room - and most are under the $150 mark. What a perfect item to choose as a brass/gold accent to elevate the look of a room.

Outdoor Halloween Decorations

Anyone live in a neighborhood where people go all-out for Halloween? We do - and I love it! But I think our kids love it even more. I noticed people starting to put up outdoor decorations late last week, and our little ones are loving seeing the pumpkins, witches, bats, and more on our walks. I realized that I need to upgrade our Halloween curb appeal this year. I have a couple awesome lit grapevine pumpkins from Pier 1 years ago, but I know our kids would be so excited if we had a few of these pieces. Trying to restrain myself from ordering all of them!

Baptism Gift Ideas (1).png

Sweet Baptism Gift Ideas

A baptism or christening is one of life's sweetest moments. I know many people had one on the books sometime this spring or summer, but had to postpone. Now that many places of worship are starting to reopen and baptisms are being rescheduled, I wanted to collect some special gift ideas for those who might be celebrating a little one's baptism soon. Of course, the Herend cross is just gorgeous. What a precious heirloom that would be. Another favorite is the "baby blessings." How cute would it be to have each family member and friend in attendance write a little blessing for the baby?

Staffordshire.png

Staffordshire Dog Finds

Well, those laundry baskets in the last post sent me down an Amazon rabbit hole, and now I'm back with some more staffordshire dog finds. I know so many people love these pups - and I thought some of these items would make such great gifts (even if you're the one who loves these pups, and the gift is for yourself)! The hairbrush in pink, the puzzle, the coasters - a few more great examples of "everyday" items that can brighten your day when they're this pretty and unique.

Foldable Laundry Baskets.png

Cute Printed Laundry/Storage Baskets

This is another one of those finds that's so good it deserves its own post. These would work so well as laundry baskets, storage baskets, travel bags for larger items...you name it. But mostly, I can't get over these great patterns at this price point! And they fold up! How fun would it be to add some color and whimsy to your closet, bathroom, or linen closet with one of these - for well under $30?! They are so cheerful, they might even manage to make you smile while you're doing laundry.

Navy & Gold.png

In the Navy

Navy blue has been my favorite color since middle school. To me, it's the perfect dark neutral. In fact, this text you're reading is navy blue instead of black - and not by accident. When you add touches of gold to a navy base, it yields such a striking visual result. And these pieces are just that - striking! See how great the crisp white lampshades look with this color combination? A healthy dose of white (whether in the item or its surroundings) always enhances other colors, and navy and gold is no exception. And for things like the bows, phone case, stapler, and kitchen tools, these colors make the "everyday" a lot more special.

Darling Scalloped Mirrors

I love that ubiquitous white scalloped mirror from Ballard Designs (one of my favorite stores ever), but I wanted to see what other options were out there. I was so impressed with what I found. I do think scallops are just darling in general. But each of these variations captures a different style and vibe - and I can't choose which one I like most! I will say that Number One (top left) caught my eye the most - you should definitely click to see the shades of blue and amazing shape up close. And the price is about 1/3 of what I figured it would be. Number Two and Number Six are going on my long-term wishlist.

Traditional Home Finds

Gold and brass, spindles, cane, buffalo check...some things are classic for very good reason. "Traditional" certainly doesn't mean boring. In fact, traditional home decor looks downright fresh these days. If you already love and decorate in this style, I hope these pieces resonate with you. And even if you lean more modern, I think adding a traditional piece or two can add warmth, depth, and that "collected over time" aesthetic we all strive for.

Untitled design (20).png

White and Neutral Kids' Toys

Disclaimer: I am all for "real life" when it comes to kiddo stuff. Let them enjoy the crazy colors, the noise-making plastic contraptions, all of it. But since you have to look at this stuff all day every day, sometimes it's nice to mix in some things that are easy on the eyes! We have this exact play kitchen (actually, ours has silver hardware instead of gold), and it's awesome. I painted the "smart screen" thing on the fridge with chalkboard paint and it looks even cuter. And the rest of these items...I sure as heck would've bought them if they had been available when I started having kids in 2016.

Untitled design (18).png

Lovely Lights in Blue

Any of these lights could single-handedly make a room. They each have the potential to elevate a mostly-neutral space from simple to sophisticated. I love the idea of a statement piece in classic colors that won't go out of style (like blue and white, of course). These lamps and pendants fit the bill! They're special, but not risky...so there's no danger of buyer's - or decorator's - remorse.

Untitled design (16).png

Display Cabinets and Shelving

Is your chinoiserie/ginger jar/general blue-and-white collection growing? Mine too. And I think sometimes the pieces look even better when grouped together. So I wanted to find some pretty display cabinet and shelving pieces that would work perfectly for accentuating all your beloved blue and white. Number One (top left) is on sale at the moment, and several others are already around the $130 mark at their regular price. The styling options with these are endless!

October Surcees for LIttle Ones (9).png

Halloween Gift Basket Ideas

Here's my idea: an Easter basket, but make it Halloween. The "basket" itself is a new trick-or-treat bag. You fill it with little Halloween surcees ("just-because" gifts) - like these cute books, toys, bowls, craft sets, bows, etc. And you give it to your little one(s) on October 1st (or soon thereafter). Then they get to enjoy the goodies all month long! (Is it obvious yet that I love Halloween?) If you get only one thing from this list, make it "Eek! Halloween." It's truly the cutest book in our (huge, huge) collection. I memorized it long ago - ha!

Spa-Worthy Target Finds (1).png

Spa-Worthy Target Bathroom Finds

Need a spa day? Me too. (Can't imagine there's anyone who doesn't this year!) But if you don't have any formal pampering booked, in the meantime you could spruce your own bathroom with some of these spa-worthy finds from Target. Nothing says "relax" quite like that perfect spa shade of blue-green layered in with lots of white (naturally). Light a candle, use all your fanciest products, and lock the door so your toddlers can't bust in.

Untitled design (13).png

Rattan Accent Pieces

Rattan is everywhere right now! It's so neutral and versatile - you can mix it in with coastal decor, traditional decor, modern decor - anything really. And rattan pieces are almost always really well-priced. (Most of these are in the $100-$300 range!) These chair sets would look great flanking a console or accent table. The side tables are ideal to position next to a couch or chair where you don't have a ton of room, but want a spot to put a drink or book. And my favorite piece is the bottom left table (Eight) - I think you could style it to serve as the perfect little bar.

Untitled design (12).png

Affordable Boo-tique-ish Finds

Online children's boutique clothes are the very cutest, no question. But for holiday outfits, sometimes I forget (or don't want) to order things so far in advance - especially when it's hard to know what size your kids will be by the time they're wearing them! I wanted to find some boutique (BOO-tique) -ish Halloween clothes that were easy to order, quick to arrive, but not too spendy - since your kiddos will probably only get to wear them a handful of times. These are all in the $15ish to $20ish range, and they should arrive by early October...so you'll get at least a month's worth of wear out of them! The appliques really make them extra cute.

Untitled design (10).png

Block Print Beauties

Have you been seeing a lot of block-print-inspired items lately? I have - and I love them! In this very old, traditional style, artisans in India use a carved wooden block to "stamp" paint onto fabric in a repeating pattern. The results are beautiful! Pillow One (middle left) and Pillow Three (bottom right) are  so well priced, and the muted blue and green florals look so fresh with the crisp white background. The "wash bags" have waterproof liners, so they'd be perfect as toiletry or makeup bags. And wouldn't it be fun to have a different patterned napkin at each place setting? The face masks were a cute bonus find too.

Baby Boy Gifts.png

Baby Boy Gift Ideas

First of all: is that frog not the cutest thing you've ever seen in your life? His name is Fergus. When I was browsing some light blue gingham things for a previous post, I came across a couple of the items included here, and I knew I had to make a baby boy gift collection. I have two girls, but I've always loved traditionally "boy stuff." I just have a thing for blues! There are some timeless-but-affordable picks here - very gift-worthy and special. I actually love to combine a gift like one of these with something super practical - like a huge pack of diapers or wipes. Make that momma's life easier!

Untitled design (9).png

Ginger Jar Art Prints and Frames

Ginger jar - but make it art! How pretty are these ginger jar museum prints? I currently have two framed ginger jar topiary prints in our family room/playroom - and I got them at least 12 years ago. (I didn't even know what a ginger jar or chinoiserie was back then -  I just knew that I loved blue and white and topiaries!) These fresh prints (of Bel-Air?) are such an affordable way to make a pretty little statement in any room. (Isn't it remarkable how many walls there are to fill?)  And I found some special frames to really make the prints pop. Bamboo, gold, and white wood are always winners.

Untitled design (8).png

Fall Finds Under $15

If you live in the south, there are many days when you feel like fall will literally never arrive. So when it finally does, boy are you downright grateful and giddy! The temperature may still fluctuate for a couple months, but there are plenty of days in September and October that dip below 70 degrees and make you want to wear a new festive sweater and scarf combination and pull out some classic fall-ish accessories too. (I love anything tortoise-shell or gold year-round, but they are especially pretty with fall colors!)

New artwork.png

Preschool Prepared

Are your kids back in preschool? I thought the day would never come, but hallelujah, mine are! Even though they started back a couple weeks ago, we are still trying to get into a routine that makes life easier for all of us. (I actually lost the instructions for my older kiddo's first homework assignment ever - not exactly the mom I imagined I would be! ha). I do love our desk, extra masks, and water bottle labels though - so I'm glad we're doing a few things right. Now I plan to put this particular wall organizer next to our front door to wrangle the backpacks, new masterpieces, and homework (!).

Light Blue Kitchen.png

Light Blue Kitchen Finds

Is there anything better than a bright, clean kitchen? Maybe you wish you could do a full reno, but you're not in the market for one right now. One way to brighten up your kitchen is to swap out your small appliances and accessories for things that are a little lighter - namely white and light blue. You might be surprised what a big impact these small changes can have to achieve that "light and bright" look!

Pretty Productive (1).png

Pretty Productive

Working from home? I have been for a long time - well before Covid-19! I've found that a pretty workspace can help you feel more relaxed, creative, and even productive - without making you feel more stressed. Even if your work area is small, a few thoughtful touches (like some of these pretty finds) might inspire you to do some of your best work.

Girl's Nursery Favorites.png

Girl's Nursery Classics

Dreaming up and decorating a nursery for a baby-on-the-way is one of the sweetest and most fun things I've ever been lucky enough to do. It's so much fun to imagine what it will be like to bring your little one home to a cozy space you've lovingly crafted just for them. And you'll surely be spending plenty of time there too (once they finally move out of your master bedroom, ha!). Make it not-too-fussy, but oh-so-special.

Kids' Artwork Display.png

Kids' Artwork Display

Little one(s) finally back in school? I found some great things to display all the cute artwork they bring home! We have three of lighter linen pinboards and love them. And I’m ordering those paperclip push pins - no more little holes in the masterpieces! The colorful clip magnets would be great to "color code" different kiddos' artwork on the fridge, too.

Pumpkin Spice Everything.png

Pumpkin Spice Everything

It's about that time...for pumpkin spice everything! Time to stock up. Yes you do need a pumpkin waffle maker, 0-calorie pumpkin coffee syrup, pumpkin cleaning spray, apple cider donut coffee, healthy pumpkin cookies...need I go on? I love that you can find some of these goodies on Amazon...especially when it's hard to get to a grocery store or yours doesn't stock a lot of seasonal items like these.

End of Summer Dresses (3).png

End of Summer Dresses

Summer's almost over...but it's still 90 degrees here in the south. What do you wear in September? These dresses. That's what. And since they're in the always-in-style blue and white color combo, you know you'll still love them next spring too.

Halloween Front Porch.png

Halloween Front Porch

Halloween isn't canceled! Do your decorations need a little upgrade? This stuff is all from Target...and right now it's all on sale. If it's not on sale by the time you see this...keep checking back, but snatch up what you like as soon as the price drops! All the good seasonal decor seems to sell out by the time most of us are actually ready to buy it!

Dinner Party.png

Dinner Party

Someday we'll have parties again, right? No matter how long it takes until that becomes a reality again...it's always so nice to have a collection of pretty tabletop pieces that you can pull out and mix and match for any size get-together. Choose a color scheme that you love (blue and green? yes please) and collect items over time. And as always...mix in plenty of white and neutrals (like whitewashed rattan) for a classic look you'll never tire of.

Untitled design.png

Pretty Pillows

Pillows so good they get their own post? Yes. I couldn't believe the prices on these. The patterns look so high-end to me...and that piping! Pillows are probably the easiest and most affordable way to "redecorate." You can completely change the look of your chairs, couch...heck, even your whole living room...with some new pillows. How about these? (I went for the ones in the top left.)

Fall Front Porch.png

Fall Front Porch

Which items do you think are from Pottery Barn, and which do you think are from Amazon? Trick question - they’re all from Amazon! I bet you'll love these fall front porch classics year after year.

First Big Girl Room.png

First Big Girl Room

Sweet and functional finds for that first transition to a “big girl room.” Love these shades of pink - and you must see that square art up close!

Slide1.PNG

Blue + White Jars

No such thing as too much blue and white! These jars are all from...Amazon!

Peloton.png

Peloton Must-Haves

Obsessed with your Peloton? (I am!) Buying the new Peloton Bike+? (Jealous!) Get the gear and accessories you need to succeed!

Blue&WhiteKitchen.png

Blue + White Kitchen

They say the kitchen is the heart of the home! Ever notice how when you have a party, everyone wants to hang out in your kitchen...instead of your comfy living room? There's just something about a kitchen that draws people in. You might as well give yours a little spruce! You know you'll be spending plenty of time cleaning it every day...even if you're not having a party. Give yourself some pretties to look at!

ChairsAndPillows.png

Chippendale + Spots

I love this classic "chippendale" style that's become so popular (again?)! These particular chippendale chairs work especially well as "accent chairs" since they have arms. Put one on each side of a console or accent table. And then add one of these stylish spotted pillows. Don't they make the chairs look so fresh and modern?

Presentation1.png

Pretty Amazon Lamps

One | Two | Three | Four

Five | Six | Seven | Eight

I love lamp. (But really, I do!) These are just so darn good. In the past year, I've been going through my house and upgrading some of our kinda-outdated lamps with prettier, more classic styles like these. I can't believe what a big difference it makes in freshening up a room! Opt for white or clear glass styles for any space you want to "see through" - like a table behind your couch or an accent table in front of a window.

SimpleFallTable.png

Simple Fall Table

I bet you could recreate this fall "tablescape" with some things you already have in you fall decor collection. But if not...check out a few of these super-affordable classic pieces. Neutrals + a few leaves + pops of orange = a simple fall table that will take you all the way to Thanksgiving!

Walmart2.png

Walmart Console 2

Walmart again. This one is actually my favorite...but the details might not translate as well as they could. (Click those links above for a closer look!) The mirror is whitewashed wood. The table has pretty turned legs. The chairs are the best tonal buffalo check...that to me look like they could be $1k each. But they're from Walmart. Heck yeah!

Walmart1.png

Walmart Console 1

Have y'all seen the amazing things people find at Walmart? I was totally inspired to do some clicking, find some finds, and put together a little "vignette" (actually, 2 little vignettes - see next post!) with only Walmart pieces. I think these styles are so classic and would look downright expensive in the right space. And wouldn't it be fun when someone compliments you on one of these pieces to get to say "it's from Walmart!"?

Fresh Coastal Console.png

Fresh Coastal Console

My sister-in-law got an acrylic console table and I've been jealous ever since. What a perfect piece to style! Literally anything goes with it. Rattan lamp? Yes. Beautiful marsh painting? Yes. Classic blue and white planter with a maidenhair fern? Yes. Fresh green geometric ottomans? Yes.

HalloweenClassParty.png

Halloween Class Party

On Day 1 of back-to-(pre)school, I had to pick which party to "host" (bring in stuff for). I always pick Halloween! I already started browsing...in the hopes that I don't forget to buy the stuff in time...and found the cutest things! Decorations (banner with NO DIY, bat decals), cute plates and food picks, little-kid-friendly craft, and teacher gift. Done!

NeutralPumpkins.png

Neutral Pumpkins

I have to draw your attention to the pumpkins in the top right (see "Seeded Glass" link above. I bought both of them and they are huge, gorgeous, and look like they would be twice the price they actually are. If they're actually in stock and available for shipping when you check the link, you'd be wise to grab them immediately. The other ones here seem great too - everyone seems to be leaning toward more neutral picks this year, and I get why. They're easy on the eyes, and can kinda balance out all the orange you probably already have!

CuteHalloweenTable.png

Cute Halloween Table

Once I had kids, I started being drawn to the cutesy holiday stuff again. Like these pieces! Holidays are always fun, but gosh...holidays with kids are on a whole 'nother level. I always try to buy holiday decor that I know will make my kids smile...because that's what makes me smile the most now!

KitchenAccessories.png

Kitchen Refresh

Does your kitchen need a little refresh? It's surprisingly easy to spruce up that oft-used space. These finds are not expensive at all - but if you have things that have seen better days (don't we all?), some simple swaps like these can make all the difference.

ToddlerAmazon.png

Toddler Girl Essentials

Toddlers are hard on clothes...and socks...and shoes. Toddler girls lose bows regularly. (VERY regularly.) That's okay - it's not that hard to find cute, good-quality things that aren't too spendy. I love this 100% cotton polo dress especially. And check out the price on the canvas Mary Jane shoes (I got the navy ones for my girls). Oh and the holiday bows! They'd be $10 each at a boutique.

ClassicPatio.png

Patio Classics

I always think it's funny that "outdoor" things are marketed so heavily at the beginning of summer. Summer is the least pleasant time to be outside here in Charleston! I get the urge to upgrade our outdoor spaces when fall is coming. I just got these string lights (affectionately called "party lights" in our family) and the white makes them SO much prettier. We always had the dark green cord versions previously. Highly recommend the white! And we got 2 sets of the pillow covers for our new patio furniture - and man they are good!
